Computer Virus hit 20 Years

It was during the opening weeks of 1986 that the first PC virus,w as discovered in the wild. Though it achieved fame because it was the first of its type, the virus was not widespread as it could only travel by hitching a ride on floppy disks swapped between users. Now 20 years after they first appeared there are more than 150,000 malicious programs in existence.
Though it’s origin is still disputed it is thought the virus, known as Brain, was coded by two Pakistani programmers named Basit and Amjad who designed their virus to affect every 360kb floppy inserted into the drive. Four years later a company called Symantec launched the now hugely popular Norton Antivirus.
Within two years the number of malicious programs had increased by 420% to 1300, this was probably helped by creation kits like the Virus Creation Laboratory which was also released in 1992.
Today there are more than 150,000 malicious programs and over 25 major companies specialising in anti-virus software for the Windows platform alone.

- Create a unique acronym.
- Include phonetic replacements, such as ‘Luv 2 Laf’ for ‘Love to Laugh’.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0

Firefox 2 will use a pre-release code name taken from a public park. Bon Echo Provincial Park (http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/bone.html)
is located in Ontario, Canada. The name literally translates to “good
echo”, and reflects how it is our goal echoes that of Firefox 1, once
again focusing on improving the browsing experience for our users,
making it simple, effective, fast and useful.
Mozilla Firefox 2.0 will have the following new features / improvements:
- Provide an easy access to History and Bookmarks, enhancments to Live Bookmarks
- Tabbed
browsing UI improvements - Aim is to decrease the learning curve for
new users and make the whole tabs approach more intuitive. - Improve the process of adding new RSS feeds
- Extension Manager enhancements - option to blacklist firefox extensions
- Search Engine UI improvements - make adding search keywords more easy. Simplify adding or deleting search engines.
There
are plans for enhanced security, blacklisting and anti-phishing
measures to be fitted to the new version. However, no details of what
they might be have been released yet.
Mozilla plans to release an early alpha version of Firefox 2.0 by
February, with builds of Firefox, Camino and Thunderbird for Apple Macs
running on Intel processors.
